THE CUP AND YUGADI
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally !!!! THE WORLD CUP!!!!! Every Indian’s dream came true yesterday night…. What a match it was!! After 28 years Dhoni and his Devils made history!! It was a thrilling match…fit for a final match!!!

Millions of Indians too celebrated this beautiful and historic moment!!
What a super ending to last year!!
Yeah tomorrow is our new year!! Yugadi!! Those of who don’t know, let me tell you, tomorrow is New Year for us Hindus in India, especially people from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra … Karnataka people celebrate our new year as Yugadi and Andhra people as Ugadi, Maharashtra people call it Gudi parva …. What ever the name, this day we welcome the new year, the new life, the onset of spring and everything new ….Our farmers start to plan for the new crops that they are going to grow for the next year……
The main thing that we do on Yugadi is, we eat neem leaves mixed with jaggery which we call Beevu Bella. Jaggery is a form of sugar (non refined form of sugar) made in India, represents all things sweet, pleasant and good that will be waiting for us in the coming year… and neem represents all things unpleasant that may come in the year to come…. The significance of this tradition is that we should face all the problems and pleasentries with the same spirit... So here , I was scribbling while watching cricket, and I made this. I had not planned it to draw it in this way…. Doesnt matter what I wanted to draw.... I liked the final result…. This drawing represents the spring….. so I thought this apt for today's blog....

RECYCLING AND QUILLING
Recycling again…. It had been many days since I did paper quilling....... and while I was thinking of doing some more recycling , this idea occurred . Though I wanted to post it on friday or saturday(before Earth Hour), I couldnt... because of the weekend bug...;)) In today’s blog, I have posted a flower bunch. I made the flowers using old newspaper..using paper quilling method, and glued it to an old Tulsi twig….. I thought of painting the twig white….. But then I thought to leave it natural…. Please do leave your comments and opinion…..

RECYCLING MODE AGAIN!!
Paper mat making and some setbacks….
My mom used to say that my grandfather(paternal) used to make mats using coconut fiber….
But I couldn’t learn from him, because he passed away some 14 years ago and he was bedridden for some 6 or 7 years before that… God bless his soul…..
Nobody in our family ever tried to learn it….
So I took help from the ever helping internet and I tried to make paper mat…

So I took help from the ever helping internet and I tried to make paper mat…
My first experiment was this …
This can be used as journal cover or photo album cover or many other things…
I have not yet decided yet what to do of it …. Whenever I decide and do something I will post it
So after this small success, I became super-over-confident and what did I do?!
I tried to make a vase using the same technique….
First I took an old magazine and cut several pieces of its sheets……
Then I folded them…
Then I placed them in this order….
This is where I was mistaken….
This method was right to make a flat mat… not a vase or box….. Then I rearranged….. and rearranged………………………………………….
And rearranged……………
Finally I made this vase…

At last I folded all the edges and pasted them using gum….

Finally I had a cute vase holder.
I placed a bottle filled with water and cut a few leaves in it…
A flower pot can also be placed in it or you can use it as a pen stand

if you use good paper this will be more study
also if you fold the paper 3 or more times it will last long
Another mistake I did was I didnt paste the folded paper...
so if you are trying.... keep these in mind...
